What the Ffff # 11
Reign of Fire was Matthew McConaughey's best role ever. He wasn't some shirtless panzy trying to get some high maintenance chick to forget her pint of haegan daez at home and focus on his washboard abs...NO...he was a man in this movie....with no hair...and a freakin' beard. Who jumps into a dragons mouth goddammit....Oops....did I ruin the ending?

What the Ffff # 5

I saw Ridley Scott's Alien last night at the Film Forum in a glorious new 35 mm print. It was incredible. The whole movie is like a clenched fist!

You know how it feels.

Ever feel like the day punched you in the face? Imagine if Monday had a human incarnation who was a hulkish brute who happened to really delight in ramming his fist into that nice space between your eyes.
It happens. I should draw "Monday." What if all the days of the week had a physical incarnation? Would Friday be a fat drunken bacchus looking person? Would Sunday be a stoner?

Emily

I want to get back to making Fudge and Emily Comics. I love these guys and they're always on my mind....just got to get them on the page.
In general I'd like to get some more comics going. They're really storyboards after all (a prelude to what i really want to get too.....animation!)
I really like this style where the tooth and grain of the pencil drawing is showing even with color, it adds a wonderful texture to it that makes it a bit more tangible.
Sometimes Mike Allred does this sort of thing and I love when he does.

Dodge This.

I miss playing Dodgeball.
Now you're asking yourself...what is a 25 year old man (boy....how about manchild?) doing playing Dodgeball?
But i tell you there are men....MEN playing this game. Construction worker type men. Jean Claude Van "DAMN!" type men.
And when they peg you with the ball you wonder why in gods green earth you joined up.
That is until you yourself nail someone and knock their legs out from under 'em.
Joy.

My Heroes.

Growing up I was obsessed with The Mario Bros. as were a bazillion kids who grew up in the late eighties/early nineties.
These guys had so much appeal to me because they really reminded me of my dad and my uncle. But are mustachioed and both are awesome.
Some of the first drawings where I actually tried to pay attention to the characters design was of Mario. I can still remember the clear thinking of noticing that drawing mario as a stick figure wasn't cutting it. Haha.

Ultra Battle 2009

It's 2009. I should say something poignant.
New years resolutions blow. They're are stupid because no one decides at the beginning of the year that they're going to stick to one or two goals set at improving oneself.
No sir, people are trying hard everyday to be the best they can. I know I'm trying and I know most of my buddies are.
So screw new years resolutions and their phony attempt to simplify our crazy lives.
Besides I always have the same set of resolutions...one of them is to draw more. Saying I'm going to do that at the beginning of the year is silly.
The only way to grow is to push myself into fearful situations.
So here's to craziness and throwing yourself into the heat of creative turmoil. Cheers!

Veidt Sport, To Win is Divine
Hey everyone,
Things have been busy. Besides the monsters book, I've been working with 4 of my buddies (Justin Lawrence, Sarah Wickliffe, Andrew Roberts, and David Pagano,) to create a mock 80's commercial for the Watchmen Movie.
It's a contest and the grand prize is getting a spot on one of the background Tv's in the Watchmen movie.
It's a sneaker ad and the music was made courtesy of Paul Wickliffe of http://www.skylinepro.com/
Check it out here, then find it on youtube and go rate it and say something nice!

MONSTERS book for sale here and at MOCCA!!!

I'm happy to announce that I just recieved my first self-published book hot off the presses....MONSTERS!
It's a 6x6" 12 page booklet featuring little creatures that are ugly, cute, and all around strange yet charming.
It's a really cool lookin' book that I'm pretty proud of and I think you'll enjoy especially if you like anything on this blog.
This being my first printing means that the book is limited only to 250 copies.

I'm selling them online for $12. You can purchase it right now by clicking the "BUY MONSTERS NOW" button on the right hand side.
The $12 is for the cost of the book and shipping and handling as well.
With every order you get a signed copy, a lil thank you note, and a sketch in the back of the book.
While there I'll be selling it in person for $5. So haul yer butt over and get a discount, and buy lots of other great work too!

50's Rocker

This is an old pic. I've been loving painting in guache and now that I just finished a book of monster illustrations, I think I might make the focus of my next set of illustrations musicians and music. I guess this and the Blues bot will be the start of that.
And just in case you don't know about my monster book....announcement coming next week about it with more details.
Anybody want to go to some jazz clubs with me?
